What's up with the house?

The week after Alan, Leon and I ripped out the flooring and cabinets the walls came tumbling down. It was so exciting to see the wide open spaces.

Here is where the new kitchen will start. 11x19 ft. with a 10 foot island. We should be firming up bids this week about cabinets.

Here is a view from the kitchen into the great room area. The beams are not staying but were temporary support for the plant shelf above. We have officially decided on going with a wood floor. Thank you for all of your advice! We are looking at laying down a naughty hickory with a light hand-scrapping. We are firming up bids this week on that.

Here is a view of where the new bathroom will start and also the wall removed next to the fireplace. I like it a lot better now.

Here is the beginning of what we hope to be the basement. We did hit rock and will hire a guy to drill through it. We need another 4 feet. Hopefully all will go smoothly.....Dang rock.

The siding is removed from the house now and Gaven Thompson our next door neighbor is not quite sure about the black stuff around the house. He was thinking that we were going to leave it that way.

Allie has been quite the trooper through all this. She is my little buddy and tags along with us everywhere we go. We love how she is sleeping in the van here with her baby on her lap and her legs crossed.
