See Ya!

After 18 years Zach has flown the coop and headed for Utah State. We had tearful partings (o.k. I was the only one crying). I can't believe that I am old enough to have a child enter college. Crazy! We went down last Friday and Saturday and helped him get set-up in his apt. We met two of his roommates and they seemed very nice. We ended up buying him a small freezer that he could keep in his room for all of his food. He was worried about taking up more than his fair share of freezer space in the fridge. He should be good to go for several months now! Everything on Saturday seemed to be focused on buying him food and where to store his food. I am sure that he will be the envy of all his roommates with that small freezer. One funny story is that I found this great deal on a 4 piece dish setting about a month ago. As Zach was taking it out of the box we found out that it was not a 4 piece setting (enough for 4 people)  but 4 pieces total. So he has one dinner plate, salad plate, bowl and cup until he can get home to get more. Zach seems pretty happy and officially started school yesterday. We hope that he can find a part-time job to help him take care of all of his extras. We are excited for him and this new phase in his life. It is great to know that he can always come home. I think he is appreciating all my home cooking about now. Miss you Zach!

Our New House

We are all moved in and somewhat settled in our new home. We are very happy with the way that things turned out and love the open space. We love our Tobacco Teak wood floors and the Naughty Maple in our kitchen. I refinished my tabletop three different times and I am finally satisfied with it. I absolutely love having my own bathroom and walk-in closet, it makes getting ready in the morning so nice. A bigger office is also a bonus and I am so pleased with my pantry. LOVE IT! Please feel free to stop by and take a look around. We will leave the light on for you! (I don't have pictures yet of the girl's rooms. They need to clean them!)

Abigail's Baptism Day

Abigail was baptized on July 31st by her father Alan and was confirmed the next day on August 1st. With the move and reunion we managed to squeeze in a few lessons on the first principles and ordinances of the gospel before her baptism. Sometimes it was just her and me on the couch talking together. She is a sweet little girl who loves the Lord and has a desire to serve Him. She couldn't wait to be baptized since she had turned 8 a little over a month ago.  Her confirmation was very special because it was Zach's first time standing in an ordinance since he received the Melchizedek priesthood the week before.

We found her dress online and it fit her beautifully. The 6th ward was very supportive and made her feel special on Sunday.

Those who attended Abigail's baptism were Glen, Laura & family, Laura, Don & family, Carolyn, Greg & family, both set of grandparents, Ann & Sophia, Jaime, Steve & family, and Ryan, Angela & family. Thank you, thank you so much for your support.

Leavitt Reunion 2010

We had lots of fun during the Leavitt reunion. It was kind of stressful for me since we were trying to move at the same time, get Abigail ready to be baptized and host a reunion but we made it work. We gathered together Thursday evening for an Amazing Race and it was truly amazing! Ann's team was in the lead until a dating clue messed them up and sent them to the back of the pack.  I thought that it was so interesting that most teams choose the monkey bars at the roadblock. The soccer ball was SO much easier! I had a lot of laughs watching people get across those monkey bars. It was amazing to see the little kids fly across. Glen, Laura and team came in 1st! Carolyn and Greg's team felt that they should have gotten a head start because they had so many seat belts to undo and do.

That night we had fun playing an internet rendition of family feud. There were some funny and debatable answers. The next day we gathered for an eventful hike at the "City of Rocks" near Oakley and eventful it was. It was hot but with the breeze it was bearable. Upon arriving we soon found out that Issac, Hal and Joesph HATE sunscreen being applied to their bodies. They could be heard screaming all the way back to Jerome. Joesph kept us all together during the hike. If you were ever lost all you had to do was listen for little Joesph's scream. Favorite quote from Laura C. "We can do hard things!" The hike was beautiful. Later we learned from Brett, Greg's older brother that Thompon's don't hike. Glen took the daredevils on an extended hike while the rest of us took the trail back to the vehicles for lunch. I am glad they all came back safely and in one piece. Zach and Jonah did their own thing as they hiked to the top of bath rock. There was actually water up there for the rain the night before.

That night after an wonderful dinner catered by some people that work for Alan and Glen we had a talent show. There was piano, drawings, plays and special talents displayed that night.

During the reunion there was a ping pong tournament set up by Jonah. In the end Glen was crowned the champion.

Saturday was a day filled with games, swimming and getting ready for Abigail's baptism. We made marshmallow guns with Jaime's leftover guns from a William's reunion that morning. (Thanks Jaime!) Later that afternoon we got some much needed help from some to move the heavy stuff to our new house while Ann and Laura took the little ones swimming.

We had a great time and appreciate all of you coming and participating. We really did miss Uncle Bryan and Mark. I know that at times it was stressful but I hope that everyone created memories (good or bad!). Thank you so much to those that helped us move and supported Abigail at her baptism. We really appreciate it.
