Hannah and Swimming
Hannah drug herself and her dad out of bed everyday at 6:45 a.m. to swim at the JRD pool. She wanted to be in shape for volleyball and swimming has a way to work you aerobically like nothing else. I can't even make it one pass without needing some much needed air! She only participated in two meets but she had fun and improved her strokes!
First Day of School 2009
The dreaded first day of school for the kids have come and gone. We are back into a routine somewhat now. My house is definitely cleaner now until about 4 p.m. Rachel and Abigail started Monday and the rest started Tuesday.
Rachel is in the 5th grade this year and her teacher's name is Mrs. Trelles. She has about a 70% Hispanic to white ratio in her class this year. She likes her teacher so far and we are hoping that she will be challenged this year.
Abigail's teacher for the 2nd grade is Mrs. Vera. She seems like she will be a great teacher for Abby and came highly recommended by her kindergarten teacher. She is full of energy and it appears like she gets along well with the kids. Abigail starts piano lesson this year and she is not quite sure about it. That will bring us up to four girls taking lessons. Good thing we have two pianos!
Hannah started the 7th grade on Tuesday and said that her first day of school was boring and long. Hannah made the 7th grade volleyball team and is enjoying not riding the bus home after school because of practice. She has her first game on Thursday here in Jerome.
Melissa had to go to school on Monday because she is on the student council for Jerome High School and she had to help orientate incoming freshmen this year and participate in a modest fashion show for them. Tuesday was her first full day at school. Melissa is on the varsity volleyball team this year. She went to a physical therapist the other day for pain in her right arm/shoulder. She was given exercises to do and was told to not extend her arm over her head for the rest of the week. Hopefully it will heal quickly.
Zach is a big senior this year and refuses to cut his hair. We did trim his bangs recently so he could see better. He is not too excited about his classes, but then he never really is. He is anxious for his wrist to heal so that he can be back out in full force on the football field. He says that the cast and all the protective wrapping they have to put on it makes him feel clumsy and it is very hot and heavy. He is hoping to be a soft cast in the next couple of weeks. He is sporting a hot pink wrap right now. He said that the doctor told the nurse to cast his arm with a hot pink wrap and so she did. Funny thing is the Dr. was only kidding! He has his first game against Mountain Home Friday night.
Allison starts preschool next Tuesday. She is excited to get back together with her little friends. Mom can be kind of boring sometimes. She loves to go shopping with me because she almost always get a treat. She is a sweetie! Here is a cute picture of Allie after finishing off a smoothie!
We hope that everyone is doing well. I am so grateful for sweet children and wonderful husband and I am so grateful for a Heavenly Father that hears and answers my prayers. Alan and I are very blessed and we are so thankful for our extended family members. We love you and hope you are all doing well.

Leavitt Family Reunion
We had a great time at the Leavitt Family reunion in Park City, Utah. Everyone was able to be there! I am sure that it will be harder to gather everyone together as grandchildren get older and move away, go on missions, etc. Mark and Ann secured us a place to stay at a wonderful resort there for an awesome rate. The rooms were spacious and there was plenty to do within the hotel itself.
We were blessed to have grandma and grandpa Leavitt there with us. Grandpa Leavitt's brother Henry had passed away the week before and the reunion and funeral were back to back. It was fun to see them again and to spend time with them.
The kids had a blast swimming every day and they enjoyed riding the coaster, zip line, rock climbing and slide.
We had fun at a park were we were all dazzled by a magician Mark and Ann brought in from their area. We also played games and laughed A LOT!
We were having so much fun we decided to stay an extra day. We enjoyed visiting the Olympic park where we saw some guys climbing up a big slide and flying through the air into a pool. We also got to do some shopping at the outlet mall and we ate at Sophia's favorite spaghetti place.
Park City is a great place to visit with your families. It reminded me somewhat of Sun Valley but seemed to be a bit more family orientated. Way to go Mark and Ann for planning a great reunion!
