Senior Night

Last night was Senior Night for Zachary. It is so hard to believe that this is his last year of High School. (Tears) I am excited for him to enter a new phase in his life but sad at the same time. Zach has been such a pleasure to raise and it will be hard to let him go. Last night they introduced each senior and their parents. Alan didn't embarrass either one of us but he thought about it!  Jerome ended up beating Burley 50-13  but there were so many flags thrown and it was raining hard so the game seemed to go on forever.
Alan bought $20 worth of tickets for a chance to win a football signed by all the seniors (at my insistence) and we won! Alan asked Zach what he wanted to do with it after the game and Zach said he wanted to give it to Joe Carey. His brother Sean Carey had died in an accident 2 nights before on the interstate (Duane & Gloria Brown's grandson/ Laurie & Kelly Carey's son). I am so proud of Zach. Joe is having a hard time dealing with his brother's death right now. It has made us all reflect about how short this life really is and that we need to live it with no regrets. There are no guarantees for any of us how long we will be here. His family is dealing with the loss as well as could be expected. They know where he is and they are happy for him but they feel a giant hole in their family right now. His funeral will be Tuesday. Alan was Sean's bishop through his teen years.
