Our search for the perfect home all began last fall when a Realtor called us up out of the blue and told us about the Nichol's home. You know that story. Since then we decided to build. We walked away from the 4.22 acres because it was hung up in legal stuff plus after all the waiting we decided it really was too much land for us. We recently made an offer on a couple of acres close to us now and let that drop because the person selling the property was trying to get out us more money then we wanted to pay. (She is kicking herself right now.)
Last week our Realtor called us and told us that Paul Lloyd's home on 2.1 acres (next to the Thompson's) had gone back to the bank and with the significant drop in price maybe we could look at it again with new eyes (we had looked at it before with Jane and Leon and did not like the layout at all). We looked again at it later that day and wow - the possibilities seemed endless and it was then that I became very excited. We made an offer the next day and it was accepted. We are doing inspections this week and plan to move ahead with things by the end of this week and close hopefully next Friday.
We are planning on doing some major remodeling on the inside by knocking out some walls, expanding the kitchen and adding on 2 more rooms on the main floor and a basement below those rooms with another room and a cold storage room. We are probably going to have to replace the siding when we add on and we are going to replace most of the flooring and putting new cabinets in the kitchen. We are super excited. While I am dreaming of things to do to the house - Alan is dreaming of things that he can do with the 4,000 sq. ft. shop. We can get the home and remodel it to fit our needs, plus a shop and all that goes into landscaping for just a few hundred dollars more a month then what we are paying now. It is just a fraction of the cost of what it would be to build. We are so excited and I have had many sleepless nights dreaming and thinking about paint, cabinets, bedrooms, flooring, etc. We hope to be in the house by August. We hope to get aggressive with our current home and hopefully sell it soon or we will be looking at renting it out. We really feel like that this is where we are supposed to be. We love the location (just minutes away from the H.S. and church house), we are excited to be in the 6th ward and will love the open space and attached garage! It will be so exciting to get Alan's tools into the shop and not the garage! There is a lot of work to do and I can hardly wait to get started!
We are adding on here.
